Here at Jet Vehicle Finance, we want to make the transition to greener motoring as smooth as we can. If you are looking at a new EV lease car, you may have questions on where or how to charge, and our sales team would be pleased to assist.
Where to Charge
- At Home/work - many electric car drivers install a dedicated home charger. You may also use a standard 3-pin plug, but it’s much slower.
- Some companies also have dedicated chargers at their place for business, for their own employees use for instance.
- Public Chargers: The public charger network is growing all the time, and can be found at motorway services, supermarkets, service stations, public car parks for instance. These range from slower AC chargers to ultra-rapid DC chargers.
- Apps can be used to locate these, here at Jet Vehicle Finance ltd we use Zzap maps - Find EV charging stations and pay for charging - Zapmap
Charging Speeds
- Slow (3kW): Standard plug socket—can take over 24 hours.
- Fast (7–22kW): Common for home and public chargers—typically 4–8 hours.
- Rapid (50–350kW): Found at motorway services—can charge to 80% in 20–40 minutes.
Plug In and Power Up
- Plug the connector into your car’s charging port.
- If it’s a public charger, follow on-screen instructions or use a contactless card/app.
- Some chargers are tethered (cable attached), others are untethered (bring your own cable). Not all electric cars coming with a cable, so please do ask our sales team if this is included with your new car.
